Bus Information

The PTA runs 12 buses serving the catchment area of Kennedy School. This is a non-fund raising service run for the benefit of the bus users.

Buses are fitted with seatbelts for the children’s safety, and have a Bus Mother who maintains an accurate register, and looks after the children on the bus.

Unless written permission from a parent has been received for their child to proceed from the bus unaccompanied, any child who is not met at the bus stop in the afternoon will be returned to school. The child will then need to be collected from school. A fee of HK$100 is charged in such circumstances.

FEES AND ROUTES: Bus fees are charged by term and are paid in advance. Please see information on routes to see the applicable fare each stop for the upcoming term.

Please note that we cannot offer a door-to-door service for the buses but where possible, taking into consideration safety, efficiency and sufficient number of students, we will try to accommodate your request.

TYPHOONS AND RAINSTORMS: See ‘Procedures for Cyclones and Rainstorm Warnings’ on the school homepage. This gives clear advice on what happens, and what to do, in the event of school closure whilst in session due to an upgrading of the typhoon signal, or raising of amber / red and black rainstorm warnings.

BUS REGULATIONS

BUS USERS should observe the following safety rules when using the bus service:

  • Remain seated during the journey, and wear the seatbelts provided.
  • Do not communicate with the driver during the journey.
  • Do not eat, drink or shout during the journey.
  • Do not use or play with sharp objects (pencils, recorders etc.) during the journey.
  • Keep hands, head and all other parts of the body away from the windows.
  • Do not throw or allow anything to drop from the bus windows.
  • Always allow the bus to come to a complete stop before unfastening seatbelts.
  • In an emergency, follow the directions of the Bus Mother, driver or responsible adult.

PARENTS please note:

Your child may not use the school bus if bus fees have been not paid.

The PTA reserves the right to increase bus fees during the year in the event of unexpected changes in any circumstances.

  • A note must be sent to the Bus Mother on any occasion that your child will not be traveling on the bus.
  • If your child attends an after school activity and the Bus Mother’s register notes this, advise the Bus Mother if the activity is cancelled, or your child no longer attends it.
  • Notify the Bus Mother in writing if you wish your child to travel on from the bus drop-off point on his/her own.
  • Where space is available, parents may travel on the school bus under special circumstances and with the prior approval of the Bus Organiser.
  • Please be on time at the pick-up/drop-off points. In the morning - If your child misses the bus, it is your responsibility to take him/her to school, and advise the PTA that your child is present. In the afternoon - The Bus Mother will take all reasonable steps to pass children into the custody of a responsible adult at the drop off, or return the child to school. If this occurs a charge of HK$100 is levied.
  • To allow children to arrive at school in time, the buses must depart on time.
  • Please make sure your child has boarded the bus in the morning before leaving.
  • Parents are liable for any damage caused to a bus by their child.
  • Refunds may be paid for full calendar months only. Notice of withdrawal must be made in writing prior to withdrawal from the bus service.

Fares

Bus fees are payable by term in advance. The level of fees depends on whether a stop is termed 'short route' or 'long route'. All short route stops are listed in blue, and the long route stops are listed in green.
