Kennedy Cares

Kennedy School is involved in a range of wonderful charity, community and eco-friendly projects.

  • ICM Charity Trip - (Est. October 2009) Annual trip where Kennedy children and their families help to build houses in Bacolod, Philippines.
  • Year 6 Annual Kiva sponsorship.
  • Recycling Collections - paper, card, plastic, metal, glass, ink cartridges, small electricals.
  • A group of seven Year 6 children visit the John F Kennedy School on a regular basis to read to the children there.
  • Walk to School Wednesdays - we encourage our children to reduce pollution and join our walking buses on Wednesdays

  • Operation Smile -  we held two choir Christmas concerts ‘Christmas with a Smile’ and raised $43,658

November 2011

 

  • Box of Hope - 479 donations to underprivileged children in Asian countries.
  • The Student Representative Council sold 102 bear warmer-hot water bottles and raised $11, 644 for the Hong Kong Red Cross. We became the recipient of the Hong Kong Red Cross Award ‘Outstanding Loving School’.
  •  Sale of Remembrance Day poppies - fundraising for The Royal British Legion.

October 2011

  •  The Community Chest - Dress Casual Day - $8,963
  •  Ecovision Costal Cleanup - Year 3 children, Kennedy Brownies and Cubs Scouts joined Ecovision. (Year 3 team won GOLD award for largest non-corporate team 2010 and 2011

September 2011

  •  Kennedy School received 9th Green School Appreciation Award from Environmental Campaign Committee.

June 2011        

 

  • Shoe Drive - Kennedy community donated 964 pairs of shoes to children in the Philippines so they can go to school.
  • Masarang Foundation - Dress Green Day - $10,871

May 2011

  • Green Project Competition - Kennedy SEPA team won 2nd and 3rd prizes in Roots and Shoots/Discovery Box Competition.

  • Earth Hour - all classes pledged to reduce energy and resources for at least 1 hour
