About the PTA:

All families at Kennedy are a part of our PTA and the school community.
 
The Parent-Teacher Association(PTA) in Kennedy School is active and works closely with the school to support the students, their parents and the school.
 
Our objectives are:
 
·          To promote close co-operation between parents and teachers for the general welfare of the pupils;
·          To provide opportunities for discussion on general education matters;
·          To provide or assist in providing educational aids, materials and extra-curricular activities;
·          To improve the educational environment for the benefit of pupils;
·          To be responsible for the organisation of nonprofit-making bus services to convey pupils within the School’s catchment area to and from school;
·          To receive donations and otherwise raise funds for the conduct of the Association and its work; and
·          To carry out such other activities as the members of the Association may decide in furtherance of the Association’s charitable aim.
 

 

About the Committee:

The PTA Committee is made up of 12 parent volunteers, 3 members of teaching staff and the school principal.

All Kennedy School students benefit from the PTA’s activities, and your participation is vital to the ongoing enhancement of your child’s education and we look forward to your continued support. All contributions to the PTA are most welcome and parents can do this in different ways. Some give their time freely, others make monetary donations, some donate raffle prizes while others help out as and when they can. All are very important and benefit the students of Kennedy School.

Some of the PTA activities with Kennedy School include:

  • School buses – used by over two thirds of the school’s students.
  • On site uniform shop
  • Annual issue of the school student directory free to all families
  • Weekly e-newsletter sent to all families
  • Production of the school calendar
  • Organising and running the various social events which not only constitute the majority of the fund raising but are a lot of fun - eg Halloween BBQ, Christmas Carol Evening, Raffle, Nature Trail, Art Exhibition and Auction…
  • Representation on the School Council – 1 PTA member is elected to sit on the Council, which oversees the governance of the school.
  • Provision of Christmas gifts to P1 and P2 students
  • Organisation of the New Parents’ Coffee Morning
  • Allocation of funds to the school “Wish List” to enable the school to purchase a wide spectrum of equipment for various departments, or finance refurbishments not funded by the ESF.

Recent examples of the PTA’s contribution to school include: Dictionaries and Thesauruses in all of the classes, new books for the school library, playground equipment and climbing walls, sound system in the school hall, and additional equipment in the school's new Gymnasium.
